A message from Manager Ben Murray

Published by Springett on

It’s great to be back for another season with a very new looking squad, which brings an exciting new challenge for myself and the players.

This has been without doubt the toughest pre-season I have had to contend with as manager, however it’s been mostly for good reasons.  We have had several players who have moved onto the Step above and I wish them well at their new clubs in what is a new venture for them, they deserve the best of luck and I will be keeping in touch with them.

What that meant though was that the close-knit mentality that we have become renowned for at this club had temporarily become open and this meant we had to be busy in the player market for this campaign. We have recruited, and I feel we have done this very well in all areas. It took us a few weeks, but it was imperative that we found the right players for the group both in terms of ability and application. I am extremely pleased that we have done just that.

It is now time for me to instil my way of playing into a new group and ultimately make the group close-knit, which we have done tremendously well in the past two and a half weeks of training and games.

As has been well documented before, I have a very set way of how I want my team to play and conduct themselves and to try and coach that into a team in such a short space of time has been a great learning experience and challenge for me, one that has given me great enthusiasm for the season ahead.

We started Saturday’s league game with seven debutants in the starting line-up and already saw the team play to a set structure and felt we were unfortunate to not get all three points.

I would like to formally welcome each of our new players for the season ahead, in a very short space of time they have shown great dedication to what we are aiming to achieve and will be great additions to the club.  Those players are Adam Baigent, Tom Dilloway, Darryl Harrison, Ben Bowers, Steven Loveridge, Tristan Noel, Warren Thomas, Bradley Wilson, Sammy Adams, Kofi Lockhart-Adams and Nebay Haile.

We will continue to strive in making the team stronger both within the squad and by adding a couple more quality players to the group.  We have been and will continue to work extremely hard both in training sessions and matches to ensure each player performs to the best of their ability for the club.

Let’s enjoy the season ahead and I ask that you come and support the lads, it makes such a difference to us all when you do.
