The process of registering players for the forthcoming season is now well under way and we are delighted to report that all the following from last season have now put pen to paper: Billy Jeffreys, Russell Canderton, Guy Hollis, Jones Awuah, Warren Harris, Scott Weight, Paul Burgess plus manager Jamie Lawrence.
There are a host of prospective new players at the Club, with three having already signed, namely goalkeeper Lee Pearce, who has extensive experience at non-league level. Lee, who is expected to replace Craig Ross, arrives from Egham Town but has also played for Bedfont Green, Wembley and other non-league clubs including Hitchin Town. Also signed are Kane Louis, a striker, who was a full pro at Brighton before playing for Eastbourne Borough and Lewes and Ken Millington, previously with Sutton United. Many more to come in the next 2-3 weeks.
Two of last season’s successful Under 18 side have also signed Southern League forms, namely Robert Curtis and Tom Betts, both of whom will be looking to break into the 1st Team squad this season.
Prior to the Bradford City match on Friday 23 July, Ed Shaylor, who is organizing all the close season work at pitch side has appealed for assistance on 17 July as follows:
There will be a tidy up session at the ground on Saturday 17th July from about 10.30 am till about lunchtime. All volunteers will be welcome to help the club get ready for the new season. The main tasks are to replace two fence posts and sweep up the grass cuttings from all round the terraces. Even if you can only spare an hour or so it will be appreciated.
If as many people as possible can come along on that date, it will be greatly appreciated.
Finally congratulations to Adam Bessent and David Ellis who recently coached the Spelthorne County Disability Side to victory in the 2010 Surrey Games held on 20 June.
We would also like to mention that it is our friends from Ashford Town in Kent who have been suspended by the FA and not us. We sincerely hope they overcome their problems but it would seem that rumours have been spread locally, maliciously or otherwise, that we could not sign players on or play football. It is nothing to do with us and nothing could be further from the truth.
