Ashford made the long journey back from the West Midlands without the points but with plenty of positives to take from a 2-1 defeat at Bedworth United. For the third match in succession, it was the Ash Trees who conceded first, Jacob Blyth scoring twice in quick succession to put the home side in control. Jones Awuah netted his third goal in two games to put the Tangerines back in the contest, but despite a strong showing from Jamie Lawrence’s side, the Greenbacks held on for the win. Terry Ryan’s match report is now online. There is no senior Ashford match in midweek, although tenants Staines Lammas are at the Robert Parker Stadium on Tuesday evening, when they entertain Sheerwater in the Combined Counties League. Kick-off is 7.45pm. The next First Team match for Ashford is next Saturday, 28th August, when we take our bow in the 130th FA Cup by travelling to Peacehaven & Telscombe for our first ever meeting with the Sussex League side. Peacehaven defeated former Ryman League club Crowborough Athletic 3-0 on Saturday to pick up their first league win of the new season and earned the right to play Ashford by winning 4-0 at Frimley Green last weekend. Travel details will be announced in due course.
