As Ashford make the short trip round the airport tonight to meet Uxbridge, once again it is a match that is hard to predict, given the recent form of both clubs.
Uxbridge come into the game on the back of a heavy defeat, 1-4, at Daventry on Saturday, and prior to that a draw, one apiece at Burnham. In their last two home matches though, they have beaten league leaders Hitchin by the only goal of the game, after having lost by two goals to three against Bedworth in their previous home match.
Ashford are now unbeaten in three, including two away trips, albeit that all three matches were against teams below them in the table and a higher points total than five might reasonably have been anticipated. Uxbridge are currently two places and three points behind behind Ashford and have played two more. In the earlier match at Short Lane, Ashford managed a three goal win, courtesy of two Isiaiah Rankin goals and one from Jordan Kiffin. This will be the first ever league match that Ashford have played at Uxbridge, although there have been various meetings in the past in either the Middlesex Senior or Charity Cups.
Kick-off is 7.45 p.m. and the address of the ground is “Honeycroft”, Horton Road, West Drayton, UB7 8HX. The ground is sandwiched off an industrial estate, down a long pathway, with a number of fierce humps. Admission is £8 for adults and £4 for children and OAP’s.
