Ashford Town (Middlesex) FCThe club’s Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday evening and was well attended.

The reports indicated that the club made a small loss in the financial year, which, while disappointing was around half the loss recorded in 2009-10.  Outgoing Chairman Phil Marshall indicated that a detailed budget forecast had been prepared that would enable the club to stabilise its finances and hopefully reverse the losses, although the playing budget would therefore have to reflect the current situation.  However, he was able to report that the management team were aware of the situation and prepared to work within the budget set.

In a lively and largely positive meeting, the officers each reviewed the progress made in the season just completed, as well as the targets for the year ahead. There was much change in the composition of the Committee for the forthcoming season, with both Phil Marshall and Alan Constable stepping down, the latter after some 29 years as Secretary although both are remaining at the club.  Alan’s role will be divided into two parts, with Gareth Coates taking on the General Secretary’s role, with Geoff Knock, formerly of Bedfont FC, will assume the role of Football Secretary.  The meeting gave a vote of thanks to Alan for his long service in such a key post.  Thanks were also extended to Bob Lewis for his support of the club, particularly in respect of laundering the kit.

There were a number of other new officers elected.  Phil Marshall takes up the role of Club Manager, while Mrs Sue Cox makes a very welcome return to the Treasurer's role.  A further new role of Facilities Manager will be shared by Dan Butler and Mark Davis, with the latter also filling the role of Social & Fundraising Secretary.

The following officers were elected:

ChairmanDave Baker
Vice-ChairmenBob Parker and Alan Constable
General SecretaryGareth Coates
Football SecretaryGeoff Knock
TreasurerMrs Sue Cox
Club ManagerPhil Marshall
Facilities ManagersDan Butler and Mark Davis
Press SecretaryTerry Ryan
Membership SecretaryMick Tilt
Social and Fundraising SecretaryMark Davis
Junior Liaison OfficerBen Murray
.
Bob Parker and Alan Constable were both elected as Life Vice-Presidents of the club.  Existing Committee Members Paul Burgess, Gary Jeffreys and Darrell Watson were all re-elected, while Chris Canderton, Alan Hill, Stuart Lloyd and Iain Messenger were also elected to the committee.  With such a strong team “behind the scenes” the club can move forward positively into the new season.
