Ashford Town return to action on Thursday night, when they send a squad to face our old friends at Staines Lammas. Lammas are, of course, managed by Ashford legend Nathan Wharf who served the club so admirably as both player and manager and also have a number of ex-Ashford players in their ranks.
Lammas won the Combined Counties League Division One last term, but were unable to go up as their home at The Lucan Pavillion does not meet meet the grading requirements. However, they do have plans to upgrade the facilities and we wish them well in their endeavours to move their club forward. This is due to be their third match - they were beaten 3-0 at home to Egham Town last Thursday, and were due to host Wembley on Saturday (result not known) Glynn Stephens will be running the side tomorrow evening, which will consist largely of Reserve Team players and triallists, although the Bamford brothers and Gavin Smith will all play some part in the match. Because The Lucan Pavillion is not floodlit, kick-off will be 7.00pm.
