A solid performance against Harefield United on Monday evening saw the Under-18’s through to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup in which they will be at home to either Uxbridge or Enfield Town, who play tomorrow (Wednesday). The match was a personal triumph for Perry Luckins, who scored all the goals in a 3-0 victory, the first one being particularly notable as he crashed home an unstoppable header from Joel Large’s corner. That goal was just reward for Ashford’s early domination but the visitors settled down and certainly played their part in the match. Ashford though, with Luckins and Conor Moody up front, are quite a handful at present, and the 100% record this season was never really in doubt, although Jorden Dawson in goal had to show some assured handling on a few occasions. The only negative was a knock near the end for Ilyas Mohammed who had to limp off but hopefully he will quickly recover. The next round of the FA Youth Cup will take place in a fortnight’s time on Monday 3 October. At present there is no match next week but Ashford are hoping to arrange for a friendly to keep the team ticking over and details will be announced as soon as arrangements have been made.
