A youthful Ashford Town XI were narrowly beaten 2-1 by a strong Staines Lammas side last night. With the Tangerines running the rule over a number of triallists, a cagey opening spell gave way to a good period of possession for the visitors, although they failed to capitalise and went a goal down just before half time.
Ashford levelled the match four minutes after the break through substitute George Baldock, but the hosts regained the lead just after the hour mark. Although Town finshed the game strongly, Lammas used their greater levels of experience to hold Ashford at bay and close out the win. Having said that, a number of players caught the eye and the forthcoming matches at Kew Association and Feltham should be extremely entertaining. The match report is here.
