Ashford Town (Middlesex) came from
behind to win a full-blooded FA Trophy tie with Maidstone United at the Robert
Parker Stadium this afternoon.
Maidstone started well and took an 8th
minute lead when James Pinnock set up Shaun Welford, who finished tidily.
Ashford finished the first half strongly but did not equalise until the 50th
minute, when Jack Mullan scored from a Pietro Palladino cross. From the
restart, the home side took the lead when Shane Graham volleyed across Maidstone
‘keeper Charlie Mitten.
Maidstone had long spells of pressure
but were unable to test home stopper Paul McCarthy and paid the price in
stoppage time when Ashford hit them on the counter-attack and Palladino lashed
the ball in off the crossbar to secure the win for the home team, who deserved
it for their resilient display.

around the club.
