A first run-out of the new campaign saw Ashford Town's Under 18s defeat Molesey 5-3 at Thames Ditton on Monday night.
While the scoreline might suggest a close result, this was in fact a comfortable victory for Ashford, with all three goals being attributable to defensive errors. That is perhaps to be expected with an influx of new players and there were a number of positives, not least the fluent football played by the boys. Team Coach Ben Murray was in ebullient mood after the game, declaring himself generally happy with the performance and praising the application shown by the squad. He also revealed that there will be changes to the line-up for Wednesday's match with Kingstonian to allow the management team the opportunity to give game time to as many members of the squad as possible. The Match Report is here. In other youth team news, the scheduled match at Bisley, has now been confirmed for Monday 11th August at 6.45pm.
