It is a fairly quiet midweek for the Club this week, the only team in action being the Under-18s who will be travelling to meet Enfield Town U18 on Wednesday evening in the semi-final of the Middlesex Senior Youth Cup. The match is a 7.45pm kick-off, subject to a pitch inspection on Wednesday morning.
The match is to be played at our opponents’ new ground which is The Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Donkey Lane, Enfield, EN1 3PL, (Tel: 07761 814842),and the directions are: Take the M25 to Junction 25 and head towards London on the A10. Turn right into Carterhatch Lane at the Halfway House pub and Donkey Lane is first left after the pub. It is a journey of around 42 miles each way, using the M25. This match replaces the originally scheduled match this evening (Monday) at home to Northwood. The 1st Team has suffered a blow. Following Saturday’s match, Kiri Takahiro, who has been a popular player this season with team mates and supporters has decided to stop playing for personal reasons. Manager Paul Burgess said “Kiri has decided to call it a day for a number of personal reasons, I am extremely disappointed to lose such a committed and professional character, a technically excellent footballer and of course a gentleman, it was a difficult and emotional decision for Kiri and one that he had clearly taking time to consider. He goes with our best wishes and the door is certainly not closed, things change in football as we all know.” The Club would certainly echo those words. Although he has only been with us this season, Kiri will undoubtedly be remembered as the first Japanese player ever to don the tangerine and white and we will miss him.
