Ashford secured a rare home victory and could have won by a greater margin. The Tangerines started strongly and took the lead in the 12th minute when a fast break saw the ball reach Dan Brown, who found Mark Bitmead. The young winger drilled across Leighton keeper Haydn Dodge to score. Brown and Bitmead caused the visitors plenty of problems but the home side failed to add their lead. Leighton came close to equalising in the 41st minute when Jake Bewley struck the post and Enzo Silvestri blasted the rebound over. The second half saw the visitors enjoy more possession but fail to really test Paul McCarthy and it was Ashford who finished strongly, with substitutes Perry Luckins and Pietro Palladino both going close to scoring.
