On
Monday, Mark Butler announced Ashford Town's squad numbers for the coming
season. Before anyone gets the wrong idea, the club are not
abandoning traditional shirts numbered 1-11 on matchdays, and this is not
something that has been introduced this season - they have been in place
throughout Mark Butler's time in charge.
The squad numbers are allocated in order to
foster club spirit, in so far as all players in possession of a number are
required to train in club kit, and maintain it in a suitable fashion. A
total of 23 players have been awarded squad numbers this season, from club
legend Paul Burgess (623 games and counting), to young left back Matt Holley.
All of the players named below are expected to be present for the club's annual
team photograph, which will be taken before training tomorrow evening.
