A 44th minute strike from Byron Harrison gave Ashford a 1-0 win over his former club, Harrow Borough. In an end-to-end match, Ashford looked to have the greater attacking edge, and their half-time lead was a deserved one, given that the home side did not really test returning stopper Paul Burgess.
The second half saw both sides attack with vigour, but neither goalkeeper was made to work particularly hard until the final fifteen minutes, when Scott Harris had two good opportunities, the first of which was saved before the second was cleared off the line. Borough finished the match strongly, with Dewayne Clarke having a couple of good chances. The home side's best chance came seven minutes from time when a corner caused consternation in the penalty area and was eventually cleared off the line. However, Ashford held on for the win their performance just about merited. A full match report is here. There was no joy for the Suburban League team, who exited the Middlesex Premier Cup at the hands of the Staines Lammas First Team by three goals to one, with Ashford's goal coming from a Martin Jackson penalty.
