Ramsgate are the visitors tomorrow, and with no less than 14 goals being scored in Ashford’s previous two home league matches, not all unfortunately at the “right end”, supporters can be forgiven for wondering what will happen tomorrow. Ashford haven’t had a nil-nil draw at home in the League for over a year so one way or another, all the portents suggest there will be goals. Ramsgate went as far as the play-offs last year, before being eliminated after a controversial penalty award on a very wet evening, in favour of our neighbours, who went on, of course, to lose to AFC Wimbledon in the final play-off in equally controversial circumstances. This term though, possibly due to some of that successful squad moving on to new pastures, Ramsgate have not been able to reproduce their form of last season and will arrive at Short Lane in 21st place with just two league wins out of a possible eighteen to date. Ashford will know better than to under-estimate anyone though and fully expect a very tough match indeed. Assuming selection, Warren Harris (pictured) will be making his 50th 1st Team start at the tender age of 17 and with elder brother and leading scorer, Scott having been in rich form throughout the season, Ashford have much cause to be grateful to Mrs. Harris for bringing two such fine sons into the world. Manager Mark Butler has no new injury problems to worry about and will have a full squad from which to pick his team. Kick off at Short Lane is 3.00 p.m. The Suburban side will be making the journey to Ash United, a club well known to Ashford from their battles in the past, but debutants this season in the Premier Division. They have kept their end up well in a division noticeably stronger than the two regional divisions but Ashford will be buoyed by their win over league leaders Eastleigh last Saturday and manager Glynn Stephens will also have a strong squad from which to pick his team.
