The cup draws are coming thick and fast and it can now be revealed that we will be travelling to Merstham in the 2nd Round of the Surrey Senior Cup after receiving a bye in the 1st Round. Merstham, of course, were regular friends and enemies throughout the 90’s in the CCL but we have not met them since December 1999 when in a league game we actually managed our largest ever win over them by 7 goals to 2 (scorers Eggington 2, Bardini 2, Frost, Elekes and Nolan).
These days, of course, Merstham have established themselves in the Ryman League and a tough match can be predicted. Possible date for the match is Tuesday 8 December.
Were we to come out on top, we would then be away to the winners of the tie between Woking, no less, and Dorking.
In the Surrey Premier Cup, our Suburban side will be away (we don’t do home draws!) in the 2nd Round to either Sutton United Reserves or our neighbours Staines Lammas. If we were to make progress, another away tie would await us in the 3rd Round against either Woking Reserves or Warlingham.
