The Suburban side ensured a good start to the week with an emphatic 8-1 victory over their counterparts from Ash United on Tuesday evening, a win that takes them to third place in the Suburban table.
Ashford fielded a strong side including Scott Harris, who had been unavailable on Saturday, as well as Adam Logie and Ivo Ginev, both of whom had been on the 1st Team bench at the weekend. Gurvinder Cainth was in goal making his first appearance for several weeks having recovered from injury.
It took just four minutes for Scott Harris to put Ashford ahead, a lead that was doubled by the same player on eleven minutes. In a one-sided first half, Harris completed his hatrick and Nathan Turner also weighed in. The interval brought no respite for the visitors with Ashford subs, Tommy Hedges and the exotically named Enoch Aojepong-Akosah scoring two apiece in the second period.
A consolation goal for Ash was though well merited with the visitors playing some neat football towards the end of the game, although by then, of course, the result was sealed.
There is no match for the Suburban side on Saturday and they will not now be in action until Saturday week (the 31st) when they entertain Raynes Park Vale in the League Cup.
Don’t forget that this evening (Wednesday) the Under-18’s entertain Woking in the final qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup to see who will be at home to Dagenham & Redbridge in the 1st Round Proper. Kick-off is at 7.45 p.m.
