Ashford are likely to field a rather different team tomorrow from the one dumped out of the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday, as they make the trip to Boreham Wood when they will be endeavouring to win a league match at Meadow Lodge for the first time ever, although they did manage a convincing 4-1 win back in 2005 in a Southern League Cup tie. Indeed, league points against the Hertfordshire outfit have always been hard to come by, and if Ashford lose tomorrow, Boreham Wood will become the first side to inflict the double over them this season following their 2-0 victory at Short Lane earlier in the season.
Ashford, of course, are now under new management and Jamie Lawrence has seen his side take ten points from the twelve available over the last four games and they may have their best chance for some seasons of upsetting one of their bogey teams. The Wood, who can be relied upon to play good football on their excellent surface, in contrast have lost in their last three outings, to Kingstonian, Harrow Borough and Billericay, and as a consequence, have slipped to eleventh place in the table, just two points behind Ashford but with two matches in hand.
The Suburban side will be hoping to get some action, having not played since 17 November, and will be entertaining Northwood’s Suburban side at Short Lane. Both matches kick off at 3.00 p.m. REMINDER TO ALL CONCERNED: DON’T FORGET TO BRING IN YOUR SOLD CHRISTMAS DRAW TICKETS AND THE DOSH!
