By Train: Basingstoke Station is based next to the town centre, about 1.5 miles from the Camrose. It is easily accessible from London Waterloo, Reading and Southampton. The ground can be reached in three ways:
By foot: (approx. 30-40 min walk) Walk straight out of the station and down the steps towards the road. Cross the road and go into the shopping center, next to Sainsbury's. Continue straight ahead passing Boots, WH Smith, Woolworths and Superdrug. You will reach some doors that go into Festival Place next to the Sports Centre. Go through these and continue straight ahead again, passing Marks and Spencer, Virgin, The Body Shop and Priceless shoes. At this open area, head between Madhouse and Claire's Accessories towards some more doors out of Festival Place. Go out of these and, ignoring the steps on the left, head forwards passing the Woolwich and McColl's. Now head all the way up the hill in front of you, passing The Haymarket Theatre. You should reach an open area (which includes McDonald's) with four pedestrianised roads heading into it (including the one you have just walked up). Take the second one to your right (NOT heading down the other side of the Museum) and walk passed Basingstoke Service Centre and Chicago's. You should now meet a junction with some traffic lights. Go straight ahead at these until the road splits into two. Take the left turn down Winchester Road. Follow this, passing Jim's Chinese on your right and eventually The King of Wessex pub on your left. Continue until you reach a roundabout. Continue straight ahead at this roundabout using the underpass provided. Come through the underpass so you are on the right side of Winchester Road. You should pass B&Q which is on your left on the other side of the road. Continue straight ahead until you see the main stand of The Camrose. Continue passed this, turning left through a gap in the fence which takes you down into The Camrose car park.
By bus: (approx. 10-15min ride) Walk straight out of the station and down the steps towards the road. Cross the road and go into the shopping centre, next to Sainsbury's. Continue straight ahead passing Boots, WH Smith, Woolworths and Superdrug. You will reach some doors that go into Festival Place next to the Sports Centre. Go through these and turn left, passing H&M and JD Sports. When you reach some escalators go around them and through the doors, down a slope and into the bus station. Now, catch either the Number 1 service to Hatch Warren or Number 3 Service to South Ham, asking the driver for either The Camrose or Brighton Hill Retail Park. Click the stop button just after you pass the bus stop next to B&Q, as The Camrose is the next stop. Return fare should be no more than £3 for adults.
By Taxi: (approx. 5-10 min ride) Walk out of the train station. On your left is a taxi rank with a number of London Cabs. Ask the driver for The Camrose. Fare should be about £5. |
