A positive start to the game for Ashford with a starting line up which looked to have a fine balance. Both Teams enjoyed periods of possession and looking to gain the early advantage. A few half chances for Ashford and equally Northwood early on.

The away side started to control the game, on 23 minutes a deep cross found an unmarked Craig White at the far post for a simple tap in. Ashford continued to play some decent football and are slowly developing an understanding for each others game as the Team to be fair is virtually new and inexperienced in some areas, then the deciding factor in the game saw a straight red for Ashford Keeper Paul McCarthy, for me it was a yellow and no more but I will not enter into a war of words with the officials. The resulting free kick made it 0-2 and with ten men it was always going to be difficult, a credit to the ten men they brushed themselves down and continued to grind out the odd half chance.

The second half commenced and Ashford really did have the bit between their teeth, we carved out a handful of chances with no final product. The game effectively ended for Ashford with ten minutes to go when again another mistake leads to goal number three. If results could be based on application this would have been a well earned 3 points, Harry Driver was immense in at centre half and for me was the Man Of The Match. With the young squad now developing and having the passion and desire to be successful the management Team are tasked to find the formula to success.
