A very bright start by Ashford’s new look side gave everyone within the ground something to smile about, from the kick off Ashford totally dominated the game in all areas creating chance after chance.

Results of late have not been going our way and it certainly looked like this was about to change. Ashford where awarded a penalty for a tackle on Tom Brunton, Joe Hughes picked up and placed the ball with confidence only to strike it straight at the Northwood keeper, the away side defended well and totally frustrated the Ashford strikers and the bench. Its fair to say that the Team selection for this game was justified based on the first forty five minutes of this league cup tie. Half time approached with the scores still level, progress had been visible by all the players left the field in very high spirit.

Second half commences and disaster strikes, an early goal for the away side did not dampen the Ashford spirit we played our game and still creating chances and looked more than capable of victory. Another defensive error allowed a second goal for the visitors.

Then came the changes in personnel and a change in shape and more chances on goal and Ashford really looked the better side and worthy of that illusive win, then enter Joe Lynch whose strike really gave the Team a lift and now its game on. The pressure was on the away side and the second goal was imminent until Ashford gifted the away side a penalty, Ashford Keeper Tyler Tobin made the save but it was unfortunate he could not get to make the second save.

Effectively game over but even until the final whistle Ashford did not give in, on the whole a superb performance with a lot of positives to take from the game for the Management Team.
