Ashford started very well today and moral within the squad was high, then disaster fell upon them again with the dismissal of Jim Mann for an alledged kicking out incident in the second minute and the referee awarded Potters Bar a spot kick, Ashford Stopper Tyler Tobin made a superb save to keep the scores level. Ashford continued to play some very attractive football in patches but lacked the consistancy to break down the away sides defence. Scott Weight had now dropped into centre Half  and Town looked comfortable, the away side with the extra man where now playing with confidence and with both sides now looking for the opening Goal concentration needed to be at its highest, unfortunately a momentory lapse in concentration gifted the away side the opening goal of the game. Ashford to their credit pulled out all the stops to try and level the scores and continued to play with confidence, Scott Weight was immense at centre half and his calming and influential words seemed to raise the spirit throughout the Team and some exellent Goalkeeping from Tyler kept the game alive. Interim Manager Ben Murray made some changes which at first added an extra spark to the Town attack, the returning Mitchell Fountain looked tired and lone striker Adam Turner worked tirelessly again and in fairness recieved no protection from the officials all day who to be fair did not once manage to keep up with the run of play which in turn meant they missed so many incidents, their level of fitness really was not that what we would expect at this level. As the game worked its way to the final whistle Ashford probably had the best chances to take the points with a hatfull of cjhances that normally would find the back of the net. This has been the problem all season and will need to be addressed very soon as this poor run of results cannot continue, i would like to think that Bens style oof Football he likes to play will give us the edge and the goals will soon be scored for fun. On the whole it was refreshing to see the Players looking relaxed and like they are actually enjoying their football again despite the result spirit is good within the squad and im sure the unity will pull them through this difficult spell.
