The long journey North was a pleasant one, on arrival at tyhe club to meet the bus a rather depleted squad boarded for the journey to high flying Royston Town. The squad looked very relaxed. On arrival at Royston we found the hospitality to be exceptional which im sure enhanced the squads mood, the pitch was in great shape albeit a bit sticky on the surface. Ashford started very much on the front foot and at times we looked like the side sitting in sixth place. Royston however found their feet and creating chances only to be twarted by a very resolute Ashford back line. In terms of entertainment this was an exceptional game for Ashford and a welcome boost for all concerned within the club especially the management Team and players. There are several names to mention namely Ryan Deardan who was exceptional Conor Moody who has eventually found his form and returned to the player i have watched for the last couple of seasons and a resurgent Jim Mann who will be the first to admit he had been playing below his capacity.Goalkeeper Tyler Tobin himself in inspired mood produced an excellent display of Goalkeeping  and then Weighty controlled procedings all around the pitch with his confidence boosting talking, Scott is a real leader and had shown this during the transitional period with the younsters coming through, albeit he is of no age himself but his experience at this level is key to the clubs progress. Jack Mullan can also be proud of his contribution standing in at centre half and making it his own position and as many commented the boy will give you 100% in any position. We look forward to Tuesday visit of Aylesbury wher we will look to build on today's result. My man of the Match goes to Conor Moody.
