Ashford have taken on a new Ladies side for next season and they hope to be playing at a higher level than the previous ladies team.

With County approval, they have a historic first match in Ashford’s colours, when they will play against Viking FK Ladies, from Stavanger in Norway on Monday 30 March at Short Lane, kick-off 7.45 p.m.

Viking FK men play in the Norwegian Premier Division and have played more Premier matches than any other club in Norway.  They have won the national championship on eight occasions and in 2002-2003 they knocked Chelsea, no less, out of the UEFA Cup.  If all that has rubbed off on their Ladies’ team, our new side could not have picked a more difficult match in which to start their Ashford career.

The Norwegian Ladies themselves that will be visiting us were a national top five Under-16 side but will now be playing in the adult National Ladies Division 3 next season.

We shall try to make a night of it to welcome both our own new team, and our foreign visitors, and it will be good to see a decent attendance for what should be a very interesting match.  Entrance to the match will be FREE.
