Ashford suffered a defeat on Saturday when Marlow won by the only goal of the match scored some eight minutes before the end of the game.  It came about following a disputed free kick into the area when a Marlow header eventually found the back of the net.

Overall, the match, played at Addlestone Leisure Centre, was even throughout and manager Ben Murray won’t be too unhappy with the performance of his troops, missing a number of the squad for one reason or another in a physical match that will do no harm to the season’s preparations.

On a small and surprisingly dry pitch after the previous day’s heavy rain, Ashford will be pleased to get back to their own ground on Tuesday evening, when they will entertain Spartan S. Midlands side Cockfosters FC in a re-arranged Middlesex Charity Cup semi-final from last season.  It will be good to have a competitive match before the start of the league season and the prize for the winners will be a Cup Final against Harrow Borough on Saturday 1 August.

Several new players have been signed in recent days and manager Ben Murray will be compiling a report for all Ashford supporters, which will hopefully appear on the web site on Monday.
