Ashford's Under 18 Ryman Youth side playing away in the League for the first time this season on Wednesday evening, returned home with all three points following a 2-1 victory which sees Ashford up to 4th place in the fledgling table.  Manager Nick Bailey has sent the following brief report.

"Playing slightly up the slope in the first half Ashford pressed from the start and it paid off when Keegan Stewart won the ball and fed Ashford's pacey striker Isaac Mplana who outpaced Wealdstone’s flat back line and calmly slotted past the keeper to make it 1-0  to Ashford after 7 minutes.

Ashford didn't drop their tempo and continued to press all over the pitch and once again it paid off as Isaac got his second of the match after 10 minutes. Wealdstone did pull one back on the 35th minute when their winger got in behind our back line and cut his pass back to the oncoming midfielder who gave our keeper Nick Bennett no chance with a rocket finish, the first half finished 1-2.

As the second half started Ashford continued to set the tempo of the match, as the midfield three of Aaron Lovett, Charlie Bailey and Carlo Caruso continued to press high and didn't give Wealdstone time to settle.  This resulted in Wealdstone having to play long and direct which our back line of Kasey Williams, Ilia Perovic, Josh Bates and Tommy Fright dealt with superbly.

We had an excellent chance of extending our lead when Mason Roseboom slid Isaac in with a perfectly weighted ball but this time he could only manage the side net. Sub Harry Herdman came on with 20 minutes to go, following his 1st team game on Tuesday and tested the keeper with a well taken free kick resulting in the save of the match.

Man of the match was a difficult decision last night but was eventually awarded to the goal scorer Isaac for his hard work and constant threat going forward. "

There was good news also for the Ladies side this week, with two of our girls, Lavanna Neufville and Ashley Cheatley being selected to play for Middlesex County last night at Uxbridge, against Sussex, which ended in a 4-2 win for Middlesex.

Neither of our players got on the scoresheet but both played extremely well and they are now due to be involved in the upcoming fixtures against the Army Ladies and Kent Ladies.
