On Saturday, Ashford are due to make their first visit to play Redhill FC since October 1992, when they managed to win by three goals to two after extra time, in a Surrey Senior Cup clash, Ashford’s goals coming from Carl Morlese, Andy Smith and Gary Hawkett.

Redhill have struggled with their pitch this season but they managed to play on Tuesday so hopefully their efforts to get the match on this Saturday will be rewarded.  The address of the ground is Kiln Brow, Three Arch Road, Redhill, RH1 5AE (tel:  01737 762129) and there is plenty of parking available at the ground.

Since relegation last year from the Ryman League, the Lobsters have struggled this season and find themselves near the foot of the table although they have games in hand on most of their rivals.  That makes them no less dangerous, of course, and Ashford will doubtless need to be as dogged as they were on Tuesday evening in beating a Chessington side that certainly did not play like a club near the bottom of the table.  In their favour, Ashford now have two consecutive clean sheets behind them and with missing players back and available for selection should be more or less at full strength.  Kick-off will be 3.00 p.m. as usual.

Yesterday evening, the Under-18’s suffered a close defeat at Bedfont Sports, losing by three goals to two.  Ashford led by two goals to one but Bedfont equalised and scored the winner at the death.
