The Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday 12 May in the Clubhouse, with a very healthy attendance.

The Chairman opened the meeting and thanked various people, in particular Sue Cox, who was standing down pending her move to Devon in due course, and Phil Marshall, who had relinquished the post of Bar Manager, although he would continue as the Finance Director.

Mr. Baker also congratulated manager Ben Murray and his assistants and the players upon winning promotion, with the news earlier in the day that we would be returning to the Central Division of the Southern League.

He also acknowledged the hard work of Nick Bailey in facilitating the refurbishment that was currently transforming the club house.

The report from Company Secretary Gareth Coates was noted and Alan Constable then went through various topics, including the important one of replacing Sue and Phil.  The meeting approved the intention of the Board to appoint Nick and Emma Bailey to both run the bar and handle the day to day financial requirements, in conjunction with President Bob Parker, Phil and Katie behind the bar.

Mr. Marshall had prepared the annual accounts which showed a small profit and the accounts were duly approved.  Bar income had reduced over the year  which was disappointing although it was hoped that the re-furbishment would attract more custom once completed.

Mr. Balmer confirmed that pitch renovation was in hand, with the first match of the new season on it being a pre-season game at home to Harrow Borough on Saturday 30 July.

There is a vacancy for the post of Programme Editor and anyone interested is welcome to get in touch.

The current members of the Board were re-elected unopposed and it was agreed by the floor that both Nick Bailey and Dan Butler should also become club directors.

A leaner committee than hitherto was then elected, including three new members, namely Jason Brown, Graham Felce and Jamie Brunton.  In addition Larry Mansell agreed to accept the post of Press Officer.

Mr. Beadle then spoke about the revised “Boost the Budget” scheme which will hopefully augment the club’s playing budget to enable it to compete in a very strong looking division.

Manager Ben Murray also spoke (at length) about the achievements of last season and his plans for the next one.  He also congratulated the Ladies’ side following their stunning achievements over the season and acknowledged the efforts of Under-18 manager Nick Bailey and his squad, which had largely been together since the age of 7.  Results in their first year of Under-18 football had not been great but in a very tough league, it had been valuable experience, with a number of players training with the senior side, especially Harry Herdman, who was expected to be a 1st Team contender next season.  Nick is standing down as Youth Manager, given all his other commitments and applications for the post of Under-18 manager should make themselves known to Ben Murray.
