Ashford will be meeting new opponents this weekend but not on Saturday as usual, but instead on Sunday afternoon, in the shape of AFC Dunstable, who were promoted like ourselves to Step 4 at the end of last season, after winning the Spartan South Midlands League.

The reason for the Sunday fixture appears to be that both our opponents and Dunstable Town, at whose ground Dunstable play, have been allocated home fixtures on the same weekend, which smacks of a fixture error that wasn’t spotted until too late to do much about it.  Hopefully it will not weaken our squad although it has already impacted upon our usual travelling support.  In addition we shall undertake our Middlesex Senior Cup clash at home to North Greenford United on Tuesday evening with just one days rest in between, so hardly ideal.

We have visited the venue before on a number of occasions and the full address is:  Creasey Park Stadium: Creasey Park Drive, Dunstable, LU6 1BB.  It has the makings of a close game with our opponents four points behind us but with a match in hand.  In their last outing they lost rather heavily, against Uxbridge, 0-4, in the Trophy but did well in the FA Cup, reaching the 2nd Qualifying Round before losing out to Hampton & Richmond.  They have yet to lose at home in the League this season, their two defeats coming at Kempston and Bedford Town.
