With the players continuing to train hard, Ashford are not in action again until Saturday, when they make the trip to play old CCL rivals Chipstead for the first time since January 2006 when goals from Scott Todd and Scott Harris ensured a 2-0 victory in the Surrey Senior Cup.

A further pre-season friendly has now been inserted into the schedule on Tuesday 7 August, when Ashford will meet Lammas at Short Lane.  Our tenants will by then have started their league programme, as they travel to Cobham on Saturday in their opening match, but they have requested a friendly next week, to ensure they are in tip top condition for the visit of Essex Senior League side Barking to Short Lane the following Saturday in the FA Cup.

In the meantime two cup draws have come in for the Tangerines, both away, as is usually the case!  In the Red Insure Cup (League Cup) we find ourselves having to travel just down the road to Burnham, whilst the Under-18’s have been drawn away to Northwood U-18’s in their League Cup, known as the Lucas Fettes Cup.

It is pertinent to express our thanks to both Simon Munns and Nathan Wharf for their hard work in clearing out the undergrowth behind and adjacent to the main stand over the last few days.  Small supporters need no longer go in fear of their lives thanks to their worthy efforts.
