Staines Town A pulsating match in the Ryman Youth League on Monday evening saw Ashford and Staines fight out a 3-3 draw.  Exchanges were even at first but a powerful looking Staines squad, including players with recent Conference South experience, got their noses in front and when they scored their third goal soon after half-time, thanks to a disputed penalty, it looked as if the points were sealed..

However, Eva Batousal pulled one back with a controlled finish and it seemed like game on when Ashford were then awarded a penalty of their own.  Sadly it was poorly taken resulting in an easy save for the goalkeeper and again it looked as if the points would be on their way back to Wheatsheaf Lane.

To their credit though, Ashford’s very young team never gave up and there was some excellent  football played, leading to further goals from Conor Molyneaux  and then the equaliser with some ten minutes to go from Luke Wilson.

Staines were always a threat and one incredible stop from Tyler Tobin when he got the ball up and onto the woodwork and safety, prevented at least one more goal being added to the Staines score.  Overall though, by the time the final whistle blew Ashford looked the more likely to score again although most would probably agree that over the full match a draw was the fairest result.
