Saturday’s encounter on the official “Non-League” day sees Ashford entertaining Biggleswade Town, a club they have never yet managed to beat in any of the previousfour meetings between the two sides.  Indeed, Ashford have lost the lot and will be keen to put that right this afternoon.

As usual though, it will not be easy against a Biggleswade side who have lost just one league match all season, that coming at home to Daventry at the end of September.  Their record of sixteen points from the eight league games played has taken them into the play-off placings.  In their most recent outing, they drew on Tuesday evening one apiece at Northwood, although the home side missed a penalty.

Ashford should be buoyed by the three goals they scored in twelve minutes on Tuesday enabling them to beat North Greenford, who are a rejuvenated side under new manager Neil Shipperley.  Paul Burgess will certainly want his men to do well as we hope to attract a few more supporters today by allowing season ticket holders from Premier and Football League clubs free entry, to maybe give them a taste of what non-league football is all about.

In addition, as part of the fund raising efforts for “Save the Children”, clubhouse manager Phil Marshall will be having his head shaved on the pitch, a sight worth seeing.  Phil has already met his sponsorship target but if you can spare a few more pennies in aid of this worthy cause, please do so.

The Suburban side are also in action today and will be visiting Hartley Wintney in a League match, whilst the Ladies,, on Sunday, will be away to Regents Park Rangers who play in Fulham at Hurlingham Park, kick-off 2.00 p.m..  Regents Park are second in the table and have not yet lost but the girls will be buoyed by their victory over table toppers Hackney Ladies last week.
