Firstly a happy Christmas to all Ashford supporters and indeed to all readers.

Whether we will get any football on Boxing Day, when we are due to be at home to Chertsey Town, remains to be seen but the portents are hopeful, with no standing water currently on the pitch.  It all depends upon rainfall levels between now and the time of the match, which is due to kick off at 12.00, midday.  Due to the fact that it is a local affair, the decision to play or otherwise, will be made by the match referee when he arrives at the ground.

It may not be possible to put any news on here on Boxing Day morning but we will be tweeting and you can also phone the Club on 01784 245908.

If the match goes ahead, Ashford will have the utmost respect for their opponents.  Chertsey have not enjoyed a good season so far in terms of results but have recently enjoyed victory in two of the supplementary cup competitions and also knocked seven past Woodford recently.  Last season’s results saw Ashford completing a close double over their visitors, the 5-4 result of the match at Short Lane being one of the most exciting of the season, whilst we won 2-1 at Alwyns Lane.  On the other side of the coin, Ashford lost an incredible match in the FA Trophy at Chertsey by six goals to five.

Perhaps we can expect plenty of goals this time in keeping with recent tradition?
