NorthwoodFollowing an inspection by local ref Steve Daley, this afternoon's match is currently ON.

If there is prolonged heavy rain between now and kick-off, please phone the Club (01784 245908) in  case the position changes.

There will be a pitch inspection on Saturday morning at Short Lane at 11.00 a.m. to determine whether or not the scheduled match at home to Northwood can go ahead.  The situation earlier today was that the pitch was too wet to get the usual machinery on to it, even though it has been re-marked.  As has been the case recently, a lot will depend upon the weather over night and on Saturday morning.

If the game goes ahead, Ashford will expect a close match against their Middlesex rivals, the two teams having already met twice this season, both games being at Northwood, where Ashford won by three goals to one back in August, courtesy of goals from Bairoh Conteh, Mark Bitmead (pen) and Samad Kazi, followed in the Red Insure Cup by a 0-1 defeat on a wet and windy evening.

Under new management this season, Northwood are currently in 14th place in the table with 25 points from their 19 league matches.  Ashford stayed in 10th place despite the Boxing Day victory over Chertsey although it is interesting to note that their current points haul would have seen them in the play-off places had they been competing in the other regional division of the Southern League.
