Leighton TownWith the weather seemingly set fair for a while at least, Ashford look forward to entertaining Leighton Town on Saturday afternoon at Short Lane, kick-off 3.00 p.m.  The pitch has been verti-drained and should be looking good.

Ashford’s recent surge in form has seen them unbeaten over the last five league matches, of which four have been won, and the team should be in good heart as they approach this game.  Visitors Leighton have not enjoyed good results recently and were rocked by the resignation of their manager Craig Wells shortly before Christmas.  A look at their recent record though shows that, apart from a 0-3 defeat at Barton Rovers on Boxing Day, they have not lost heavily to anyone, so Ashford have no reason for complacency.  Earlier in the season we managed to win at Leighton by th eonly goal of the game, a penalty scored by Mark Bitmead.

We have some player news to impart.  Firstly, Under-18 striker Eva Batousal has signed 1st Team forms for the Club and may well be in tomorrow’s squad.  Eva is the top scorer throughout the Western Division of the Ryman Under-18 League and certainly knows where the net is.

We have also signed on dual registration, Mario Quiassaca from Staines Town and he too will be in tomorrow’s squad.  Of our other new signing, Lee Scott, there is now some clearer news in that Lee has been down for treatment at the club and is undergoing a strict rehabilitation plan, but his torn hamstring is likely to keep him out for another four weeks before he will be able to make his debut for the Club.

Finally we can confirm dates for the following matches:

Away to Burnham on 22 January,

Away to Rugby Town on 29 January

Away to Rayners Lane on 19 February (S. Comb. Cup)
