Slough TownHaving enjoyed a full week’s rest, Ashford face another tough match tomorrow when they entertain Slough Town at Short Lane, kick-off 3.00 p.m.

Slough, of course, have been frustrated in their promotion ambitions for some time now and may find it hard again this season as they face a worse backlog of fixtures than anyone else in the division, with still 20 league matches to fit in, 14 of which are away.

Ashford were well beaten in the earlier match away to Slough so are well aware of their opponents’ quality but will come into the game on the back of a very creditable and deserved draw at Godalming last Saturday.  Team news is that Ed Thomas should be fit to return to the squad, as will Bairoh Conteh and there is news of two new signings.  One will excite some of the older supporters as we can now confirm that Jacob Mingle, still only 27, has completed his transfer from Thatcham Town and returns to Ashford after leaving us in 2006 after 74 games and 8 goals to go to Horsham, appearing in their long FA Cup run before moving on to play for Braintree, Thurrock, Eastbourne Borough and others.  He is a quality player and we are delighted to welcome him back to Short Lane and into the squad for tomorrow.

Also signed on 1st Team forms this week was young Luke Wilson, who has impressed greatly for both the Under-18’s and the Suburban League team this season whilst Max Herbert who made his debut last Saturday against Godalming has had his work experience from Brentford extended for a further month and he too will be in tomorrow’s squad.
