North Greenford UnitedWith a cold but dry week ahead, we may have a chance of getting in all the midweek fixtures and if we do, it’s going to be a busy week, with the 1st Team having two league games to contend with.

On Tuesday evening we have the short but sometimes tortuous journey to meet North Greenford United.   Our opponents have been picking up some useful points in recent weeks with wins over Chertsey and Thatcham but have not managed a win in their last two games, losing at Rugby and then at home to Northwood.  We have beaten NGU twice at home this season, once in the County Cup and once in the League but on both occasions it has been very close and it is bound to be a tough match on Tuesday.

The same can certainly be said for Thursday’s match at Uxbridge which is a quick re-arrangement of Saturday’s postponed match with all available Tuesdays having run out.

Also in action this week are the Suburban side who will entertain Farnborough Res on Thursday evening in the Quarter Final of the Challenge Shield competition.    The Under-18’s though are without a game this week and will not be in action until the following week when they go to Hayes & Yeading on Tuesday 2 April.

There will be a lot more on the web site later in the week but don’t forget that on Easter Monday evening, at Uxbridge FC, we play Staines in the Final of the Middlesex Senior Cup (kick-off 7.30 p.m.)  Both clubs have been working hard with the County to make it an event to be remembered.  Entry is free for all Under-16’s and we would really like as many of our Junior Teams in kit to come to the game to support the team.

The Under-12’s, whose County Cup Final was postponed yesterday, will be acting as mascots and will be coming out with the teams, along with Staines’ chosen mascots and there is also to be a penalty competition at half-time between the two clubs, with the Under-12’s representing Ashford.  Local pride is at stake gentlemen and we expect all five of our penalties to be scored!  There will be medals for the winners.
