Beaconsfield SYCOBAn interesting final match of the season awaits on Saturday, when Ashford entertain Beaconsfield SYCOB at Short Lane, kick-off 3.00 p.m.

It is intriguing because visitors Beaconsfield, unbeaten in their last eight league games, need a point to secure the final play-off space left up for grabs.  Their only rivals for this space are Royston Town, who themselves are away to AFC Hayes on Saturday.  The prognostics are fairly simple:  if Beaconsfield either beat or draw with us they are assured of a top five finish and thus a play-off place.  If they lose to us though and Royston win, it will be the latter who pinch that final spot.

Ashford still have injuries but are likely to be stronger than they were at Royston last Saturday with leading scorer Kofi Lockhart-Adams back in action.  Of the seven times Beaconsfield and Ashford have met, the Tangerines have won six of them, including a 2-0 victory at Beaconsfield earlier in the season, with one draw.  Ashford though cannot match their visitors’ recent run of form and a recent return of just two points from the last four matches is disappointing.

We look forward to welcoming all the walkers mostly from the Junior Section, who are helping to raise funds for the club tomorrow morning and it is also an ideal opportunity for supporters to cast their vote for the “Supporters’ Player of the Year”.  Forms will be available tomorrow and should be returned to Tannoy Eddie (Hutchinson), although you can also vote by email or by handing your form in over the coming days.
