The 1st Team have finished for the season as have the Under-18’s but the Suburban side still have two important matches to go.  This evening (Monday) they will play at home to Newport Pagnell Reserves, kick-off 7.45 pm when three points are required if the team is to stay in the race for the Divisional championship.

They complete their season on Thursday evening, when Dunstable Town Reserves will be the visitors.  Just a reminder that Ashford currently top the division with 43 points from 20 matches, whilst Leighton are in second place with 42 points but have just one game to go.  A win for Ashford, tonight, therefore, will end Leighton’s challenge.  The main threat though comes from Royston Town though, who are two points behind Ashford at present but have three matches to go.  Neither Leighton nor Royston are in action this evening.

Adverting to the 1st Team, Saturday’s win over Beaconsfield meant that we finished in tenth place with 61 points.  That is one place lower than last season, but two points more.  There was a marked difference though in terms of goals:  last season we scored 62 and conceded 61 whereas this season we scored 85, a full 23 more than last year but conceded 79, which is 18 more than last season.

Top scorer was Kofi Lockhart-Adams with 24 (including all competitive 1st Team matches) whereas last season it was Dan Brown with 20.  The season before that it was Jones Awuah, also with 24.
