Lane was the venue on Sunday 17 May for a 7-aside football and soft ball cricket day, organised by the Sri Lankan Football Orgnaisation UK.  An excellent day’s entertainment ensued, presided over by the President of the Organisation, Mr. Jiva De Lambert and the tournament got underway with the raising of both the Sri Lankan and UK flags in a ceremony watched amongst others by the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for the UK.

The day had been largely organised by Ashford’s Tyrone Fernando and Mick Tilt, who presided over the cricket competition.  It took a lot of hard work and great credit goes to Iain Messenger, Kelvin Poulter and others whose organisation helped the day to go smoothly.   Vice Chairman Alan Constable presented Mr. De. Lambert with an Ashford tie as part of the medals ceremony and we hope to see our Sri Lankan friends back next year.
