Staines Lammas

Ashford have started the pre-season with two low key friendly matches against local Step 6 sides Spelthorne Sports and Staines Lammas, with plenty of trialists keen to show what they could do.

Against Spelthorne on Thursday evening, there was some reasonable football but the match ended with neither side able to break the deadlock but on Saturday a dominant first half performance saw Ashford turn round three goals to the good at half-time, courtesy of goals from Perry Luckins, Mark Bitmead and Samad Kazi.  Once again there was almost a complete change of personnel soon after half-time and whilst Ashford continued to dominate, there were no further goals.

There will be a step up on Tuesday evening when Combined Counties Premier side Molesey are the visitors.  The match will again be on the second pitch, kicking off around 7.00 pm, and entry is again free.

Following Saturday’s match, two of the newcomers signed on for the Club in the shape of Tom Brunton, a young left sided player with previous experience at Hayes & Yeading and Egham Town, and Elliott Jones, a midfielder who has seen service with Hampton.
