As the pre-season programme gathers pace, Ashford will entertain Chipstead FC from Division One South of the Ryman League on Saturday, kick-off 3.00 p.m.  Older members of the club will remember Chipstead well as they were one of our main rivals for several seasons in the CCL as both clubs strove to reach Step 4.  In more recent seasons our paths have crossed more rarely although both clubs played a friendly prior to the start of last season at Chipstead which Ashford managed to win by three goals to nil, courtesy of Dan Brown, Ashley Lodge and Samad Kazi.

Only the latter of those three is still with us of course and the Chipstead squad will also doubtless be very different to this time last season with two changes of manager in the process.  In charge now is Kevin Raynor, who was appointed in the close season and who has arrived from Guildford City, along with a number of ex-Guildford players.  We have one absentee this afternoon, in the shape of manager Paul Burgess, on holiday, so Steve Scott and Ben Murray will be in charge.

Prior to the 1st Team match, there is a reserve friendly on the back pitch in which Kelvin Poulter’s boys will play a Staines Lammas team, kicking off at midday.

Entrance to the Chipstead match is just £5 and don't forget that all our junior players will be admitted free of charge.
