Aylesbury United

Ashford welcome mid-table Aylesbury United to Short Lane on Saturday.   Our visitors’ form has been rather up and down over their last six matches, their only victory being a 2-1 success at our neighbours Egham Town.  They have drawn their last two away to Northwood and at home to Barton, and previously lost to Dunstable Town 1-3 at home.   Overall though they have acquitted themselves well following their promotion from the Spartan S. Midlands League last season.

We are delighted to welcome back to the Club Joe Bennett, who was an influential performer last season.  Joe joins us from Tooting & Mitcham United who he joined in the summer and he goes straight into the squad.

May we apologise to our visitors and our own supporters for any inconvenience as scaffolding went up round the club house this week.  This is in preparation for the repairs to the roof, for which we have received a substantial grant, thanks to the hard work of Gareth Coates.  The scaffolding won’t affect the inside of the building but please be careful as you come in and out.

The Suburban side are also in action on Saturday and have a tough match away to Tooting & Mitcham United.  The home game against Tooting early in the season was an excellent match, ending one apiece.

Don’t forget that we have the annual Christmas draw on Sunday, starting round about 2.00 pm when there will be the usual assortment of prizes.  If you have not yet returned your tickets and money please do so tomorrow.
