This afternoon’s match against Chertsey Town is ON as the pitch has passed a local inspection by referee Steve Daley this morning.  It is too wet to re-mark the lines so not as white as normal but still OK.

Weather permitting, Ashford take on Chertsey Town at Short Lane on Saturday, kick-off 3.00 p.m.  The Suburban side are also due to be in action away to Knaphill.

Both Ashford  and Chertsey will be aware that a draw will do little for either club, with both marooned at the foot of the table, whereas a win would give the victors the encouragement to edge closer to third bottom North Greenford, who have been on an equally disastrous run in recent months.  Chertsey may have up to four ex-Ashford players in their ranks, including John Pomroy, Tom Betts, Ed Thomas and Joe Green, whose father, of course, is Mark Green, Ashford assistant manager.

Ashford manager Ben Murray, who has worked fantastically hard in recent weeks, with little to show for it, remains upbeat as do the squad and it will be an interesting battle without doubt.
