Ashford travel round the M25 to meet 17th placed Potters Bar Town in the Calor League on Saturday.  The Potters are another club who have suffered in terms of results in recent months having not won in the League since their 2-1 victory at Chertsey Town back on 29 November.  They have played twelve league matches since then without a win, although they have drawn a number, including their last two games away to AFC Hayes last Saturday and at home to Northwood on Tuesday evening, both matches ending one apiece.

The address of the ground is the Pakex Stadium, Parkfield, Watkins Rise, Potters Bar, EN6 1QB.  It is just a short hop from Junction 24 of the M25 and should only take around 45 minutes for any supporters travelling.  It is just over 12 years ago that Ashford last visited Potters Bar and that was in a Middlesex Charity Cup match in February 2002, when we won by four goals to one, courtesy of Tony Nolan (2), Richard Butler and Dean Berry, on his debut.  The writer’s archives show that it got a little heated towards the end with one player from each side getting an early bath, Andy Frost being the Ashford player in the frame.  Purely from a nostalgic point of view, our team that evening was:  Simon Kent, Lawrence Munns, Russell Canderton, Jamie Keith, Jim Heggarty, Vinny O’Sullivan, Andy Frost, Tony Nolan, Mick Mahoney-Johnson, Richard Butler, Dean Berry, SUBS:  Andy Sherwood, Anthony Eggington, Scott Todd, Adam Foulser and Matt Jordan.  Referee was a Mr. Gary Barlow and the match was held up for 20 minutes due to floodlight failure.

Back to tomorrow and Ashford will be hoping to build upon their improved form in recent weeks which will see them going into the match on the back of a four match unbeaten run, which was unthinkable just a few short weeks ago.
