Ashford face their final league match this afternoon away to mid-table Aylesbury United who play at Leighton Town FC, kick-off 3.00 p.m.

The situation is that, with Chertsey playing away to Slough and having now publicly stated that they have resigned from the League, Ashford will, in all probability, need just a single point to haul themselves off the bottom of the table.  Whether that will be enough to earn a reprieve, given the number of clubs throughout the country that have either folded or taken voluntary resignation, remains to be seen.  Were it to be offered, we will take it.  If it isn’t, we will go down with good grace, put this season behind us, and do our best to get back up again as soon as possible, although no-one should imagine it will be easy, given the much improved professionalism and capability within Step 5 compared to the past.
