Ashford’s social Sunday team are continuing to do well and last Sunday secured their place in the final of the Hants & Border League Junior Invitation Cup with a 4-2 win over Wanderers FC at Short Lane.

Ashford started well and took the lead on 12 minutes through Rob Lapersome who went past three players in the box before slotting home.  Good keeping kept Ashford at bay but two minutes into the start of the second period it was the turn of Anthony Lapersome who combined with Tom Hall to double the lead.  Hall then missed a penalty thanks to a good save but the unlucky keeper saw Anthony Lapersome knock home the rebound.

The victory looked secure but Wanderers pulled one back through Ball and then reduced the arrears even further, scorer Kotecha.  Ashford steadied the ship though and this time it was Paul Lapersome who made the match safe in the 85th minute.  Ashford’s reward is a Final this coming Sunday 11 May, against Knaphill WMC, at Shalford Park, Guildford, kick-off 10.30 a.m.  Manager Gary Tomany would doubtless be delighted to see some Ashford people supporting the team.
