One positive consequence playing at Step 5 is that the cost of travel will reduce significantly next season as the amount of mileage Ashford will travel next season reduces dramatically.  Using Google maps to work it out, Ashford’s total league mileage next season, including return trips will be just 816 miles.  There are five journeys of 10 miles or less plus another 6 of less than 20 miles.  The longest trip will be to Horley Town which is a journey of 36 miles each way, but still not much more than one third of the distance we have been used to, when going up to the various midland clubs over the last few years.

The most local trip will be the 2 mile trip to Bedfont Sports, and then the 4 mile outing to Spelthorne Sports with Hanworth Villa slightly longer at 5 miles.  Horley at 36 miles is the longest trip in an easterly direction whilst going the other way, Farnham Town is 31 miles away.  Even they will only seem like short hops after some of the midweek jaunts to the likes of Kettering, Rugby, St. Neots and Cinderford in recent years!
