Egham TownNobody remembers pre-season results once the season starts, which is just as well for Ashford, as they went down to a second home defeat in a row, losing 0-3 to neighbours Egham Town on Tuesday evening.

Possession levels throughout were even enough and the result for what it is worth could have been rather different had the numerous chances carved out in the second half in particular not gone begging.  Not all were misses as the Egham keeper was in inspired form.  Indeed Egham look a good team all round.

From Ashford’s point of view, the fact that plenty of chances are being created assuaged the Management worries to some extent but once again the defensive frailties were more prevalent than would be hoped.  It may not have helped with new players still trying to show their capabilities and neither also the unavoidable splitting of the squad between the two halves.

Hampton & Richmond are up next, on Saturday afternoon at Short Lane and for any small supporters in danger of being engulfed in the undergrowth on the far side, we hope to have it all cleared early next week.
