Preview: Beaconsfield Town v Ashford, Sat 17 March 2018

Ashford are away again on Saturday when they make the short journey to meet Beaconsfield Town (previously SYCOB).  The lads should be in good spirits after going unbeaten in five matches and having won the last three, which is just as well as the home side are pressing hard for an automatic promotion spot at the end of the season even though they have not been in league action since 26 February due to postponements.

It seems surreal to think that snow and ice are on their way again after a much warmer week but it seems fairly definite.  If we get any information about the game not going ahead it will be posted on here up to around 12.30 but after that, best to check with the home side, phone number 01494 676868.  The address of the ground is Holloways Park, Windsor Road, Beaconsfield, HP9 2SE and there is plenty of parking.

Ashford kept themselves in trim with a low key friendly on Tuesday against British Airways, which resulted in a 4-1 win for the Tangerines.  Ashford fielded very much a mixed squad with just 3-4 regular 1st Teamers starting plus a selection of Under-18’s and 1st Team squad players who needed some game time.  BA gave an excellent account of themselves in the first half, with the score one apiece at half-time, Ashford’s goal being a header from Scott Weight.

As the second half wore on though, the Tangerines were more on top, going in front on the hour mark through Alex Fisher, making the most of an excellent through pass from Lee Decabo.

Decabo  was also involved in Ashford’s third goal as he sent in a free kick that a defender could only turn into his own goal, whilst young Jamie Gutteridge  got his reward for some hard work as he finished things off with a well timed header on 85 minutes.
